This is a full time position. The target base compensation for an external hire for this position can range from $17.00/hr to $20.00/hr + tips.

As the Team Leader, you’ll be cultivating a welcoming environment for both guests and team members. Through exceptional leadership, operational excellence, and a deep love for coffee and healthy food, you’ll ensure that every aspect of the café reflects Hiker’s commitment to quality, service, and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:

Craft Coffee Excellence

• Build excitement around Hiker Coffee by delivering consistently exceptional coffee, organic and better-for-you food options, educating guests, and promoting the benefits of clean coffee.
• Maintain the highest quality standards for all beverages, ensuring every cup meets Hiker’s reputation for excellence.
• Lead coffee bar operations, including daily brewing, espresso machine use, and product preparation, while upholding cleanliness and safety standards.

Operational Management

• Manage and execute weekly schedules to ensure proper coverage and efficiency.
• Oversee daily cash register operations, conduct accurate cash counts, and ensure financial accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with Health Department and Food Safety Standards, including regular equipment cleaning and maintenance.
• Implement and manage promotional programs to drive sales and build excitement around new offerings.

Team Leadership

• Inspire and coach team members to consistently deliver friendly and efficient service, creating a warm and welcoming environment for guests.
• Provide ongoing training and development to foster team members’ coffee knowledge and service skills.
• Conduct regular team member job dialogs to provide feedback, recognize achievements, and address growth opportunities.
• Actively cultivate a culture of belonging, growth, and trust among team members.

Customer Experience

• Ensure every guest enjoys an extraordinary experience through personalized service, high-quality products, and a welcoming atmosphere.
• Resolve guest concerns with professionalism and urgency, leaving a positive and lasting impression.
• Build lasting customer relationships that promote loyalty and strengthen Hiker’s community presence.
• Uphold Hiker’s highest standards for food safety, cleanliness, and overall ambiance.

Community Engagement

• Act as an ambassador for Hiker Coffee, participating in local events and building relationships within the community.
• Collaborate on marketing to implement and promote programs that connect Hiker to its audience and expand brand visibility.

Qualifications Preferred: (accepting all applicants)

• Coffee Expertise: A passion for craft coffee with knowledge of high-quality brewing methods, espresso techniques, and equipment maintenance.
• Leadership Experience: Proven success in leading, coaching, and motivating teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Operational Skills: Strong understanding of cash handling, scheduling, health and safety compliance, ordering and inventory management.
• Customer-Centric Mindset: A commitment to delivering exceptional service and building lasting guest relationships.
• Marketing Awareness: Experience implementing promotional programs and engaging with the local community to drive sales.
• Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with POS systems and tools like Google Suite.
• Food Service Experience: Previous café or coffee bar management experience preferred.
• Passion for Wellness: Knowledge of and enthusiasm for coffee, tea, and health-conscious products.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. You’re on your feet the majority of the day
• Perform motion with the hands, wrists and forearms to operate machinery
• Ability to lift up to 5lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally
